- Main article: Planet
Consisting of three different kinds of Gas Giant and Asteroids, they can only be colonised by researching the appropriate tier 5 technologies. Like Class IV Planets, Food is nonexistent. These planets (and astroids) are the least desirable (-20 ) for the inhabitants, infact your Population is going to be downright grouchy there. But the reason you're forcing people live there is for the unusual opportunites for other FIDS . For example, aside from the lack of food, Astroids provide very good opportunities for ALL three Industry , Dust , and Science . The Gas Giants on the other hand, are generally poor for most but will provide outstanding opportunities (in fact by far the best) for one of Industry , Dust or Science (depending on the gas composition). Class V Planets and Astroids can not be altered in any way by terraformation, but they can be improved upon.
Gas Giants
"Large Gas Giants, it is the most difficult Planet Type to settle and develop."
- Gas Methane
- The only saving grace of Methane Gas Giants are their outstanding opportunities for Industry . Everything else is nonexistent. They're never Tiny (0.0%) or Small (0.0%), but can occationally be Medium (16.7%) in size. However, they are usually Large (50.0%) or Huge (33.3%). Methane Gas Giants can not be terraformed, but they can be improved upon through Star System Improvement.
- Gas Hydrogen
- Similar to Gas Methane, the only saving grace of Hydrogen Gas Giants are their outstanding opportunities for Dust . Everything else is nonexistent. They're never Tiny (0.0%), Small (0.0%), or Medium (0.0%) in size. They're always either Large (40.0%) or Huge (60.0%). Hydrogen Gas Giants can not be terraformed, but they can be improved upon through Star System Improvement.
- Gas Helium
- Similar to the other Gas Giants, the only saving grace of Hydrogen Gas Giants are their outstanding opportunities for Science . Everything else is nonexistent. They're never Tiny (0.0%), Small (0.0%), or Medium (0.0%) in size. They're always either Large (50.0%) or Huge (50.0%). Helium Gas Giants can not be terraformed, but they can be improved upon through Star System Improvement.
Asteroid
"Essentially a bunch of rocks in a vacuum, colonization of asteroids requires very advanced science."
Aside from being an unpleasant place to live, Asteroids are definitely worth colonizing due to their unique abundantce of FIDS . They offer very good opportunities for ALL three Industry , Dust , and Science . They cover the spectrum in size, but will most likely fall in the middle of the range - Tiny (14.3%), Small (21.4%), Medium (28.6%), Large (21.4%) or Huge (14.3%). Astroids can not be terraformed, but they can be improved upon through Star System Improvement.
