- Main article: Planet
Consisting of Arid and Tundra Planets, these can only be colonised by researching the appropriate tier 1 technologies from the Exploration & Expansion Technology Tree. While Class I Planets are preferred, people are still willing (-5 ) to inhabit Class II Planets if necessary. Although they provide less Food , there's still adequate amounts. Class II Planets provide excellent opportunities for Dust or Science . These planets can be terraformed from Class I, other Class II, or Class III Planets by reseaching the appropriate tier 8 technologies on the Exploration & Expansion Technology Tree. Arid and Tundra Planets can be create at a reasonable price through terraformation, costing 800 .
Arid
"'Relatively dry, this planet type is still valuable for farming and development.'"
Arid Planets are an excellent source of Dust , but have poor opportunities for Science . They tend to be Tiny (25.0%), Small (25.0%) Medium (18.8%), or Large (18.8%), but can also be Huge (12.5%). Arid Planets can be created from Class I, other Class II, or Class III Planets through terraformation by researching the tier 8 Mass Particle Displacement technology on the Exploration & Expansion Technology Tree.
Tundra
"Though partially covered in ice and snow, this planet is still relatively easy to exploit.'"
Tundra Planets are a very good source of Science , but have poor opportunites for Industry . They tend to be Tiny (25.0%), Small (25.0%) Medium (18.8%), or Large (18.8%), but can also be Huge (12.5%). Tundra Planets can be created from Class I, other Class II, or Class III Planets through terraformation by researching the tier 8 Exotic Thermodynamics technology on the Exploration & Expansion Technology Tree.
